Kevin Patrick & Poor Man’s Publishing

Smiling man in a suit and patterned tie against a dark blue background.

I’m Kevin Patrick—author, veteran, community leader, and someone who believes local government shouldn’t feel like a mystery. I’ve spent years working in public service, serving as a Village Trustee and Village President, and I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made in small rooms ripple through entire communities.

That experience shaped my writing. Through my books, blog, and articles, I break down how government really works—at the local level and beyond. I show how national and global policies eventually hit home in your neighborhood, and why understanding them matters. My goal is simple: make government clear, honest, and accessible for everyday people.

Patrick’s Poor Man’s Guide Series—coming soon— will explain the inner workings of government in plain language—no jargon, no politics—so anyone can understand and take part in shaping their community. My articles and blog dive deeper, connecting current events to real-world impacts on local life.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about giving residents the tools and knowledge to understand how decisions are made—and how they can make a difference.

If you’ve ever wondered why things happen the way they do in your town, you’re in the right place.
